From January to April, the container throughput of the Port of Los Angeles increased by 25%

The Port of Los Angeles released the port container throughput data for the first four months of this year.

The data showed that in April 2024, the Port of Los Angeles handled 770,337 TEUs of cargo, a year-on-year increase of 12%. This is the ninth consecutive month that the busiest port in the United States, the Port of Los Angeles, has achieved year-on-year growth.

Among them, the Port of Los Angeles handled 416,929 TEUs of import heavy containers in April, a year-on-year increase of 21%, and 133,046 TEUs of export heavy containers, a year-on-year increase of 51%. This is the 11th consecutive month that the export volume of the Port of Los Angeles has achieved year-on-year growth.

In the first four months of this year, dock workers effectively handled 3,150,841 TEUs of cargo at the Los Angeles Marine Terminal, an increase of nearly 25% compared with the same period last year; this is also 5% higher than the five-year average of the port since 2019
