Freight rates in major route markets have soared

The Shanghai Shipping Exchange released the latest China Primary Container Freight Index. The data shows that the freight rates for major routes exported from Shanghai to Northern Europe, the Mediterranean, the East and West of the United States, and South America have generally risen sharply.

Shanghai-European basic port: 2869 US dollars/TEU, an increase of 24.7% from the previous issue

Shanghai-Mediterranean Basic Port: US$3,915/TEU, up 21.0% from the previous period

Shanghai-US West Basic Port: US$4,393/FEU, up 22.0% from the previous period

Shanghai-US East Basic Port: US$5,562/FEU, up 19.3% from the previous period

Shanghai-South America basic port: 5461 US dollars/TEU, an increase of 18.1% from the previous period
