The European Commission issued a statement today (June 12), proposing to impose temporary anti-subsidy duties on electric vehicles imported from China from July 4.

According to CCTV News, the tariffs imposed by the European Commission on three sampled Chinese automakers are: BYD 17.4%, Geely 20%, and SAIC 38.1%. Other Chinese battery electric vehicle manufacturers that participated in the investigation but have not yet been sampled will be subject to a weighted average tax of 21%.

The European Commission said that if discussions with China cannot produce an effective solution, these temporary tariffs will be introduced from July 4.
